Taking Responsibility, Shaping the Future
We are an active, proud contributor to the energy transition. Delivering archaeological support across solar farms, wind power developments, and high-voltage transmission corridors, we play an integral role in de-risking and enabling critical renewable energy infrastructure. Throughout, we collaborate closely with our clients, continuously advancing our own understanding of sustainable planning and operational practice.
For ADW, sustainability extends well beyond site compounds. Within our own business operations, we implement concrete measures to minimise environmental impact and conserve vital resources. A substantial portion of our commercial vehicle fleet consists of hybrid vehicles. Our company premises are heated using locally sourced timber: firewood is supplied directly from our neighbour's woodland, providing a low-carbon, regional heating solution based entirely on renewable biomass.
We maintain strict environmental stewardship across our field operations. We prioritise waste minimisation, practice robust recycling, and proactively target reductions in operational carbon emissions. Where site conditions permit, we deploy mobile solar PV arrays to generate off-grid electricity and harvest rainwater for dampening sensitive archaeological features and washing field tools.
Biodiversity enhancement is a cause close to our hearts beyond our contracted briefs. At our headquarters, we have established a wildlife habitat featuring pollinator-friendly planting, insect hotels, dry stone walling, and dedicated hedgehog shelters.
For us, sustainability means taking active accountability – for the schemes we deliver, the natural resources we consume, and the natural environment we share.
